Funeral Wishes

Many people have strong ideas about what they want, or don’t want, at their funeral. For others, it’s a case of ‘do what you like, I won’t be there, bury me in a cardboard box’.

At Funerary, we’ve found that people often value the opportunity to think and talk about their funeral wishes and to ask questions about what is possible. That's why we offer free funeral wishes consultations.

This free consultation for planning your own funeral could include discussing how much different options might cost but, unlike a prepaid funeral plan, doesn’t involve any payment.

How is this different from a funeral plan?

This is not the same a prepaid funeral plan, which is a way of paying for a funeral in advance. Contact us if you want to find out more about taking out a prepaid funeral plan.

Why Funerary?

1. This is not a job for us, it’s our life.

We plan funerals every day and every one of them is special and unique. Our experience means that we know what’s possible, what the options are, and we can point out or suggest things you might not have thought of.

2. We’re not going to judge.

It’s also sometimes easier to talk to someone friendly and professional who isn’t a friend or family member. Even if a question feels awkward, embarrassing or inappropriate to you, it won’t seem that way to us.

You don’t have to switch off your emotions when you’re with us — we know it can be hard or scary to talk about death and dying. But we find that talking about your funeral wishes can be empowering, comforting, and once you get started, it’s far easier than you thought it might be!

3. We’re here to listen, not to tell you what to do.

This is about what you want. We’re not here to sell you a particular product. Instead, we’ll give you pointers to think about and answer any questions you have.

What happens after a funeral wishes consultation?

After the consultation, we’ll send you a Funeral Wishes pack outlining your wishes to keep.

Sharing your funeral wishes with the people who are likely to be organising your funeral is a good prompt for a conversation with them where you can be clear about what’s important to you. If this doesn’t feel right, you can simply let them know where your wishes are stored in the event of your death.
